What exactly goes into repairing the turf will depend, of course, on the nature and extent of the damage.
Low Spots
Low spots can be caused by various factors such as the removal of trees, the presence of tree roots underneath, heavy rains, or activities of burrowing rodents like gophers. We could lift the turf, address underlying issues, add a base to level the ground, and then compact it to ensure stability.
Melted Turf
Whether it’s a large melted section from a window reflection or a single burned spot, we use industry-leading radio wave technology to reattach new turf. At an additional cost, we can repair the melted turf spots either with turf supplied by the client or matching turf supplied by BriteTurf.
Flattened Artificial Turf
The pressure from placing heavy loads on the artificial grass will cause the synthetic turf to flatten over time. Brushing over the grass using a power broom with stiff bristles will allow the fibers to return to their original state. You also may need more infill to keep the fibers upright.
Loose Sections or Lifted Edges
Loose fits are usually the result of an unprofessional installation job. The importance of hiring an expert for your artificial grass installation job cannot be understated. At Green-R Turf, we use top-quality American-made products and the best installation techniques to ensure the seams are properly secured.
Patching Up Ripped Sections
Using sharp objects around your artificial lawn can cause rips and tears on the turf. Much like fixing loose sections, the ripped sections can be patched together using adhesives or turf pins, and they will look as good and flawless as new.
Replacing Damaged Sections
Heat-related damage or damage caused by harsh chemicals is relatively permanent. For this damage, the best fix is to cut out the damaged area and replace it with your existing turf remnants, or we will do our best to match it with our artificial grass.
Tips to maintain the appearance and longevity of artificial grass:
By following these best practices, you can keep your artificial turf looking pristine and extend its lifespan.
Regular brushing: Brush the turf fibers regularly to prevent matting and maintain an upright position.
Remove debris: Regularly remove leaves, twigs, and other debris from the turf surface to prevent blockage of drainage holes.
Clean spills and stains: Promptly clean any spills or stains using mild soap and water. Avoid using harsh chemicals or solvents that can damage the turf.
Prevent pet waste buildup: Remove solid waste and hose down the affected area to prevent odor and bacteria buildup. Use enzyme-based cleaners to eliminate any lingering odors.
Control weed growth: Inspect and remove any weeds or grass that may grow on the turf edges or through the drainage holes.
Proper drainage: Ensure the turf has adequate drainage to prevent water accumulation. Regularly check and clear any blockages in the drainage system.
Protect from heavy objects: Avoid placing heavy objects or furniture on the turf for an extended period, as it may cause permanent damage or flattening.
Limit high-temperature exposure: Avoid exposing the turf to excessive heat sources like grills or fire pits, as it can melt or warp the fibers.
